Are you serious? Eternal life - right here - right now?
Yes, I am serious. Eternal life is an absolute reality for
millions of people on Planet Earth at this very moment.
How can this be when people are dying around us every day?
In order to understand how you can have eternal life it is
necessary that you drop man's theories of the evolution of mankind! If you want
eternal life you must believe in a Creator God. If you are not prepared to
believe in a Creator God this blog post will be of no avail; and you will not
attain to eternal life.
Are you still reading? Good! Let's get down to business.
From now on I will be referring to passages of Scripture in the Holy Bible. But
first I want to quote from the very first blog post I wrote titled 'Welcome To
Biblical Perspectives'.
"The Christian's
Bible has been around for 2,000 + years. Its messages are for every individual
on the face of the earth; regardless of whether you follow any particular
religion, or not. The word of God is universal in its scope.
I make no apology for
mentioning the word God in a world that increasingly denies His existence. For
anyone who does not believe in God, the moment you die you will believe! But,
then it is too late!"
What is physical death? It is the separation of the spirit
and soul of a person from their physical body. The body remains here on earth,
but the spirit and soul go back to God who made us. 1 Thessalonians 5:23,
"Now may the God of peace Himself
sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved
blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."
A human being consists of spirit, soul and body. The human
spirit is where I am conscious of, and am able to know God. The human soul is
where I am conscious of myself. I know that I am me! The human body is where I
know the world around me via the five senses; sight, hearing, touch, taste and
smell.
The body I am born with is designed to function in the
environment of Planet Earth. God has made us this way.
What then is eternal life? Obviously, it is a life that
goes on forever. Let's look at John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
So God gives everlasting life. How
does He give it? By a person believing on His Son, Jesus Christ and receiving
Him as their Lord and Saviour.
1 John 5:11, 12, "(11)
And this is the testimony; that God has given us eternal life, and this life is
in His Son. (12) He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of
God does not have life."
John 3:36, "He
who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the
Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
Salvation and eternal life come in an instant!
Ephesians 1:13, 14, "(13) [Christ] In Him
you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation; in whom also having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit
of promise, (14) who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption
of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory."
Are you willing to turn your life around? Are you willing
to forsake your ungodly ways? Eternal life is here and now for you if you
believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God has the power to forgive your sins
and give you eternal life.
What greater guarantee can you have than
God Himself? The Holy Spirit Himself is God's pledge to you of eternal life.
How do I know it's true? Because, it happened in my life in an instantaneous
moment of time. I have eternal life! Do you want eternal life? Then Jesus
Christ wants to give it to you, right here and right now.
