I want to consider these issues from a biblical perspective. The Christian’s Bible has been around for 2000 + years. Its messages are for every individual on the face of the earth; regardless of whether you follow any particular religion, or not. The word of God is universal in its scope.

Eternity?

What do you think of when you hear, or read, the word eternity?

Is it a great endless expanse of time? Or, does it go beyond time?

Collins concise Dictionary defines it as:
1.       Endless or infinite time.
2.       The quality, state, or condition of being eternal.
3.       Any aspect of life and thought considered timeless.
4.       The timeless existence, believed by some to characterise the afterlife.
5.       A seemingly endless period of time.

From the above definitions we can clearly see that eternity is endless, infinite, eternal and timeless. If something is eternal it is unchanged by time.

You may say to me, “I don’t believe in eternity.” Your belief won’t alter the reality of eternity. Your belief won’t make it go away.

Eternity encapsulates time within itself, but time is not eternity!

We live in a Space-Matter-Time universe; created by the true and living God, The Triune God [Father-Son-Holy Spirit].
Space consists of dimensions; length, breadth and height. Dimensions can’t exist by themselves; they need to be filled with matter.
Matter consists of energy, motion and phenomena. We recognise phenomena as light, sound, heat, cold, hardness, softness, colour, scent, moisture, dryness etc.
Time as we know it is future, present and past. Time proceeds from motion. When motion moves to successive locations, it creates time. Each successive move is later than the last. It takes time for each move.

What is the significance of time to us? We live continually in the present. Yesterday has already gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We live day by day. We have no guarantee that we will see the next sunrise.

Ecclesiastes 3:1, 2 states, “(1) To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: (2) a time to be born and a time to die...” Our lives on this Earth are limited.

When death comes, time ceases for us; we go into eternity. Ecclesiastes 12:7, “Then the dust [body] will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.”

Where we spend eternity is the most important decision we can make in our entire life! Yes, you and I make that decision!

We have to decide whether we spend eternity in the Lake of Fire, or in Heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God died on a cross at Calvary for your sins? Do you believe that His offer of salvation is real?

If you believe in Him and receive Him as your Lord and Saviour; you will spend eternity with Him in Heaven.

May you know what it is to have the joy and peace of His salvation!

I Don't Know What The World Is Coming To!

Have you ever heard this saying? If a person says this they are expressing concern at the current state of matters. At the same time, they are letting us know that they don’t have the answers.

I can tell you what the World is coming to. It is heading for judgement!

Luke 17:26-29, “(26) As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man: (27) ‘They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. (28) Likewise as it was in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; (29) but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all’.”

These words were spoken by the Son of Man, the Lord Jesus Christ. They are not just intended for Jews and Christians. They are a solemn warning to all the inhabitants of Planet Earth.

What is the prelude to this?

Matthew 24:4-8, “(24) And Jesus answered them and said to them: ‘Take heed that no one deceives you. (5) For many will come in My name, saying, “I am the Christ”, and will deceive many. (6) And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars...for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. (7) For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. (8) All these are the beginnings of sorrows’.”

We have wars; we have famines; and we have deadly plagues such as AIDS and the HIV virus. Earthquakes are on the increase around the world and seem to be increasing in severity. What does the Lord say? “All these are the beginnings of sorrow.”

There are clear warnings in the Scriptures of impending worldwide judgement.

If mankind continues to disobey God and flout His sovereignty then judgement must follow!

Where does this leave you? Does it leave you in danger of impending judgement? Or are you safely abiding in the Lord Jesus Christ?

Be warned - the wheels of justice may move slowly - don’t be crushed under one when justice reaches you!
