"In the beginning" - these are the very first words
in the first chapter of Genesis; the first book in the Holy Bible. Let's
look at these words in their stark simplicity in the beginning before all things were created - before time began
- before the Universe - before man.
The beginning was before time; so it was in eternity. Now
let's read in Genesis 1:1, "In
the beginning God..." Now here is a wonderful revelation - God was in
the beginning - in eternity! Let's continue in verse 1, "In the beginning God created the
heavens and the earth."
Now any clear thinking person can see that this Supreme
Being, God actually brought into existence our Space - Matter - Time universe.
Time came into existence when God created the universe.
Genesis chapter 1 details the time frame God used to
create the heavens, the earth, mankind and the animal, marine and vegetable
kingdoms. In six literal 24 hour
days was how He chose to do it. Our puny, finite minds find it hard to grasp how
an infinite, eternal God could bring the universe into existence in six days.
For those of you who think this is farfetched; I will tell
you what is farfetched, that the universe began with a 'Big Bang'. Every big
bang I have seen destroyed something! Where did the elements for this supposed
'Big Bang' originate?
It is mankind groping around for answers and leaving the
Creator God out of their thinking. Why is this so?
Romans 8:7 in the New Testament; gives us these
words, "Because the carnal [natural]
mind is enmity against God; for it is not
subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be." Men and women in their natural, ungodly state
are hostile towards God and won't be subject to God's laws. How did this come
about? As a result of a sinful nature passed on from Adam to every human being,
except Jesus Christ.
Ezekiel 18:4, "Behold
all souls are Mine; the soul of the
father as well as the soul of the son are Mine; the soul who sins shall
die." So here's the problem; every soul belongs to God but in our
natural, sinful state our minds are hostile towards God.
Ezekiel 18:31, 31, "(31) Cast away from you all your transgression which you have
committed and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you
die...? (32) For I have no pleasure in the one who dies," says the Lord
God. "Therefore turn and live."
Romans 6:23 states, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Acts 16:30, 31, "(30)
'...what must I do to be saved?' (31) '...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and
you will be saved...'."
Don't be like the ostrich and bury your head in the sand
hoping the problem will go away. God was there in the beginning of eternity and
God will be there throughout eternity. You can choose to die in your sins and
be cast into the Lake of Fire for eternity; or you can believe in Jesus Christ
and spend a sinless eternity in heaven with Him.
